In my case, FM freezes quite often on my journeys, I am currently using the latest (non-beta) version and FM runs on my phone, connected via USB cable, while Google Maps runs on the car system via Android Auto.
The FM user interface stops responding (randomly? multiple times in a 100km trip) and the only way to solve the problem is to close and re-open the app. In this case too, the app remains unresponsive for a while before allowing me to continue using it.
